Passionate about his job and always on the move, Jan brings lots of positive energy, inspiration and creative solutions to the team. Since he was a little kid, Jan was obsessed with technology, in fact, you might go far enough to call him a tech junkie. When he’s not UX’n around, Jan is in love with football (yes, that’s soccer for you USA guys and gals), cross-fit, cycling and good old rock music.

You are an information architect with a strong technical background. What does your typical day at UX Passion look like?

I always cycle to work (when it’s not pouring). I plug my laptop into the monitor, check emails, quickly review work from the previous day and arrange Skype calls with colleagues and clients for that day if needed. Then I start to work on projects, either continuing where I left off the day before or moving on to something new. My job is very diversified and never boring. I do IA, usability, static wireframes, prototypes, interaction design and QA, even project management depending on project needs. When I need a break I mostly read articles in the UX field or sport news, just to mentally refresh and then when I get back to work very often I have an instant solution or new idea.

UX Passion is your first full-time job. Why did you decide to join UX Passion in the first place?

I joined UX Passion because I wanted to be different. I feel different and I want to express that, in the office and out. I think that I am in the right environment. Working at UX Passion is a great opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and do work that I like.

You are guy who knows his way around code. How do you think your tech skills and coding can improve IA and interaction design?

Understanding how code lives facilitates the whole process. At least, it is making life easier for developers. It’s not about limiting myself; it’s more about thinking about what’s realistically doable in a certain time-frame.

I see myself as a more experienced UX guy with a more polished skillset. I see UX Passion growing. And I mean growing in every sense of that word.

Rarely do we see you without your bike. But apart from cycling you have an additional hobby: Airsoft. Tell us more about it.

Airsoft is a sport where people shoot pellets at each other with replica firearms. It offers a lot of adrenaline and a lot of time in nature; on occasions we spend the night in the woods. It can be harsh sometimes and that’s not for everyone. But I like it because of that. It toughens me up.

One of our favourite questions – off the top of your head, give us the names of the last three musicians you’ve listened to.

Tycho, Keane and CCR.

Where do you see yourself and UX Passion in the future?

I see myself as a more experienced UX guy with a more polished skillset. I see UX Passion growing. And I mean growing in every sense of that word.
