Photosynth now available for all users to download and use

Almost two years after Microsoft showed off beta version of its uber cool Photosynth technology, it is finaly available for everyone. Photosynth takes a collection of regular photographs and reconstructs the scene or object in a 3D environment, and the final results are breathtaking.

You can check out and explore cool synths (that’s how they call Photosynth outputs), or even create your own. Dang, I believe that this can inspire people to collect all those synths and share them so we can actually have whole world in Photosynth. OK, now I know I am dreaming, but hell, why not?

So, I would suggest you to take a look at How to synth video to get a quick overview of the best way to take pictures that will make a good synth. As always, Microsoft guys are expecting to hear from you in case you run into some bugs…

As always, and taking into account that this is first version of Photosynth, there are some limitations listed by Microsoft:

  • All synths are uploaded. They’re big, so you need to use a broadband Internet connection.
  • All synths are public. Your photos will be visible to everyone on the Internet.
  • Like the viewing experience, the “synther” only runs on PCs (XP and Vista).
  • You’ll need to Sign Up for a Photosynth account. It uses Windows Live ID.

Anyways, I’m off to explore this cool stuff, and possibly to share a synth or two with the rest of the world.
